The Baltic resort of Sellin lies to the east of an extensive coastal high forest (the Granitz) at the connection to the Mönchgut peninsula in the southeast of Rügen.

A special feature is that Sellin lies on the Baltic Sea and on Lake Sellin, which is connected to the Greifswald Bodden on the west side via Baaber Bek and the bay of Having. Along with Binz and Göhren, Sellin is one of the most important seaside resorts on Rügen. Baabe lies south of Sellin on the so-called Mönchgraben (monk's ditch) between the Baltic Sea and the Baaber Beek. With its thatched-roof houses and historic village centre, it is undoubtedly one of the most beautiful places on the island of Rügen. Its status as a special holiday resort is illustrated by the fact that Baabe has repeatedly been voted the most beautiful spa and recreation resort on Rügen.

Wilhemstrasse with the Sellin pier and numerous shops and restaurants is only 2 km away. You can reach the centre of Baabe even faster, which is only 1 km or a 15-minute walk away. You can reach the south beach, which is about 600 m away, in a few minutes on foot via a forest path. The south beach is just as beautiful as Sellin's main beach - perhaps a little more natural with fewer beach chairs, more space and a beautiful view across the bay to Baabe and Göhren.
